  • Audio drifts out of sync in preview window and when imported into timeline.

Hi everyone, so I’m creating a tribute video for a performer and I’m pulling from archival footage of her films.

I ripped the films in handbrake, and then converted them in ProRes 422 to work with in final cut. I viewed the ProRes versions of the films in Quicktime to confirm that they are 23.98 and the audio is 48khz.

However when I import the films into FCP7, the audio will eventually drift out of sync after about 30 minutes, to the point where towards the end of the film the audio is 3-4 seconds out of sync (this drift happens in both the preview window and on my timeline).

Here are my settings for my final cut

Here are the settings for the videos in question.

Your sequence settings are 24p and the Easy Setup is 23.98 so the audio will be stamped with that frame rate and will drift .1%. Use a 23.98 sequence
