Hi, i have footage shot on canon 5d that is h.264, 1920×1080 and 23.98 fps that i am transcoding to apple prores 422 so i can edit in FCP7.
But i also have a clip from a different source that is AAC, h.264, 320×240 and 25 fps. The primary footage is the canon 5d. But i plan to use both in the same project. Should i transcode the 320×240, 25 fps into the same settings as the footage from canon 5d? that is, apple prores 422 1920×1080 and 23.98 or should i transcode to prores with the original 320×240 and 25fps even though the other footage has been transcoded in 1920×1080, 23.98?
    Please let me know.
    thank you very much!

What Dave said, plus editing with different timebases in the same sequence is just asking for trouble.

Hi! I am using the 4×3 footage in the timeline along with the canon 5d footage which is in 1920×1080.

i started editing this music video in h.264 without transcoding first and the 4×3 footage looks great alongside the 16×9 footage. However, after getting 80% through the edit i was having all kinds of problems with messed up exports to quicktime. So now i want to transcode everything and then substitute the PRORES versions of the clips for the originals in the timeline.
Should i transcode the 4×3 clips to apple prores but keep it at 4×3 even thought the other footage is at 16×9? They don’t have a 320×240 option on MPEG media streamclip, instead it’s 1440×1080. Also, MPEG streamclip is the only converter i can use, i have an older mac which is OS 10.5.8

Please lemme know what to do, thanks! It seems my problem is that I have footage from 2 different sources, but i don’t see why it should be a problem. Don’t editors deal with this all the time? This should be easy, lemme know thanks
