  • Final Cut damages files while working on remote drive…

Posted by Kyle Rebar on August 7, 2013 at 8:33 pm

    Hey Cowzers,

I’m having an issue working remotely on Final Cut. At random, my assets will fall offline and I’ll get strange sounds on my headphones. Then, the file sizes are reduced from 8+ GB to around 900 mb on the original drive, unplayable. Has this happened to anyone else, any ideas what might be causing it? It’s happened twice so far.

We’re using Final Cut Pro 6.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I highly doubt FCP is the cause of your problem. Tell us what the make, model and connection of your drive. USB 2 drive?

We’re using LaCie 2TB Quadra 7200rpm drives through firewire 800 cables.

I assumed FCP was the cause because the issue only happens to referenced media while editing over the network…
