  • Error: “Out of memory”…right near the end of an hour-long render!!!

This happens all too often. I’ll have just one sequence and project open, render out a QT file (in this case, it’s a 22:30 minute show), and just a few minutes from finishing it craps out and says, “error: out of memory.”

Is there any way to avoid this before it happens…especially when no other programs are running???

My usual solution is to then break the sequence into two halves and render them as separate files (hoping it will at least get through the first half), then if they both get rendered, slap them on a timeline and render out a single of the two…

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

Render in 5-10 min chunks. THis way, if it craps out, you only lose that section.

Also make sure you don’t have any stills over 4000 pixels big in the sequence.
