  setup for FCP

  Sorry to seem stupid BUT I was editing along in FCP 7, all short films of under 5 minutes, when all of a sudden it started giving me constant dropped frame error messages. Although I lowered my rez and rates and upped my ram an additional 8GB to 12GB, no change. I am using mostly stuff shot on a Canon 7D and stills from Photoshop. Can anyone point me to a comprehensive check list of how to set up my preferences so everything will be at the top of their functionality?

  If you are editing the Canon filees without transcoding, you are doing wrong.
  h264 are not supported by FC.
  You need to transcode to Prores.
