3D motion tracking
so lets say i’ve got this shot, and the camera moves around and all, and i want to add some text but i want the text to look like its floating in the shot, as though it was actually there, i just cant figure out how to do this
maybe i’m blind, but is there anyway to track 3D camera movements ?

3d motion tracking in after effects alone i do not believe is possible, there are ways to trick the effect. I would search it in the cow database, but i do believe syntheyes does 3d motion tracking.

Not in AE. You need a 3D matchmover such as Boujou or Syntheyes.

You can also try Boujou or Pftrack . Both are outstanding 3D Motion tracker systems.
