Strange blow-out of JVC footage flesh tones when using FCP 7.03
I recently purchased the JVC GY-HM750. I bought it’s predecessor 7 years ago, the JVC GY-HD101. I shoot in 720p 30 on both camcorders. Once I import the images into FCP 7, bright areas of flesh suddenly explode in chroma, almost like skin tones in the sunday comics. (see attached screen shots) I usually undercrank the saturation when shooting, then in post, I either use the stock “color corrector” or “3-way color corrector” to bring the saturation back up to ‘healthy’. That’s when the oranges and pinks really blow out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
