  How do I make all of my 16:9 footage into 4:3?

  Hi all,

  I have a bunch of 16:9 footage that was shot with the intention of putting a 4:3 matte on; however, I don’t want to guess how much to crop and all of that, but I cannot find a 4:3 filter or plugin. Any ideas?

  Off the top of my head….create a 4:3 timeline and drop your footage into the new timeline, pan and scan accordingly.

  Or do the center cut inside of After Effects.

  what Ryan said re the 4/3 timeline.

  otherwise…

  i make widescreen masks for 16/9 down to 2.35, i’m hoping the same process will work for you.

  drop some Matte> Color into in a 16/9 timeline, make i white.
  drop a wide screen mask on to it, set it to 4/3.
  (i hope this is possible!)

  export a still image,
  bring it into Photoshop, and delete the white, leaving just the black border.

  that’s your mask.
