Apple ProRes HQ or Proxy for 4K material?

Proxy is for offline editing…it’s low resolution. If you want high resolution, use HQ.

When i use HQ I get an out of memory error message. I am cutting in High Res stock in preparation for the online edit. Suggestions?

High res stock…Pictures? FCP cannot deal with still pictures with resolution over over 4000 pixels. YOu’ll have to resize those.

so you wont be using this material in the on-line?
then it doesn’t really mater what format you use.

i prefer LT. it’s a small file size while still looking good.
proxy looks a little low-res for me,
but i generally need to project my cuts on a screen.
