AE .SWF export
Created a web banner using AE 7.0 exported is as a .swf file. I need to add a web link to the banner that takes you to a url but only when it is clicked on, not when the time line hits a marker.
Is this possible in After Effects?

Don’t think so, you need to add that in Flash. Should be simple for a Flash person.

If the entire banner is going to be used as a hyperlink, can’t that be done in the HTML code, similar to how you’d do it with a JPEG image?
Maybe I’m mistaken. I haven’t had much to do with SWF files.

Yeh, that would be in the web page’s HTML code, so you don’t need to go to a Flash coder.

I would think this could be done with a simple Image Map, but I’m not 100% sure about image maps and .swf files.

hmm you made a banner… in after effects… that seems like it could be some trouble to me… then again maybe its all vector and the file size isn’t bad…
Anyways. It is not possible in after effects to make any code. I do believe it is possible to just put an anchor tag around your flash object to make the whole think link somewhere else.
If your able and willing to import your SWF into the flash IDE the code to make a click is not very hard, but i am not sure if thats an option.

assuming you have flash cs3 or lower…
nest the AE swf into a new 1 frame movie… add a layer titled “invisible button” draw a shape(in the new layer) that is the same size as your movie… covert it to a button symbol… code… also check out the gazillion tutorials for flash on the internet… extremely well done stuff out there… remember if you don’t have flash you can get a 30 day full trial from the fine folks at Adobe
