    Hi there,

I’m having issues with nested audio sequences being out of sync.

The client requested that I send him the fcp file so he could grade and mix everything himself, however he’s having a problem with all the audio.

Because the film needs to be mixed (and there are 10-15 layers of audio per performance) I nested them to keep the timeline tidy. I also made cuts to the nested audio sequences to shorten each performance several times.

Now everything is out of sync, and because I cut on the nested sequence I fear it will be impossible to match those cuts in the original audio.

Can anyone advise on why this is happening? Or how I might fix it?

    Thanks

In other words…you have a LOT of fixing to do.

If you are going to deliver the audio to be mixed by someone else…never nest it. If you are going to mix audio yourself, and need to adjust the SFX or dialog or music separately…never nest. IN other words…NEVER nest.

What would be the best way to fix this then?

Because I made cuts to the nested sequences its going to be really difficult replicating those cuts in the original audio.

I guess sometimes this is the best way to learn!

    Thanks,
