• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  C300 MXF files transfer to Apple Pro Res – FCP 7

  I’m trying to edit a project in FCP 7.
  Footage was shot on a C300. Using MXF Converter for MAC I am able to preview all the clips and convert them into APPLE PRO RES 422. However when I import the Apple Pro Res files into final cut pro 7 I get an error message:

  “The following media files are not optimized for Final Cut Pro” It is highly recommended that you either recapture the media or use the media Manager to create new copies of the files to improve their performance for multi-stream playback”

  The clips show up as imported but I can’t view them – I get an error message “Out of Memory” when I try,
  When I try to drag any clip into the sequence FCP bounces me out.

  Any guidance on which step to re-do – I am obviously doing sonething wrong – likely at the MXF Converter step.

  Any help much appreciated

  Use Log and Transfer. No need to use an outside converter.

  Install this:

  Hey everyone,

  I’ve recently been given some .MXF footage that I need to convert to ProRes. I’m not sure what camera it was shot on but the file structure is intact. I’m using Final Cut Pro 7 and Final Cut “Pro” X. I’m familiar with the workflow outlined in the above tutorial but when I use this process I get footage that looks like this image.

  Any thoughts or suggestions?

  There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that image whatsoever. Computer displays just have issues viewing interlaced. If you had an IO device and went out to an HDTV, it’d look completely normal.
