    Appication: After Effects 7.0

I want to learn the best way to dissolve one image into another.

The image would start as a frame capture (a still export) from my timeline…I took the frame capture and made it look like an old B&W photograph. In the dissolve sequence I want this still B&W photo image to slowly dissolve into the original color motion image. Once the transition is complete the color image will be frozen for a second and soon will come alive. I have both images ready to go and I am wondering the best technique in AE to make this happen. I would like to learn the best way to pull this off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Put one layer on top of he other and keyframe the opacity of the above layer (full color layer).
