I recently checked out the Flaunt/Deisel spot posted on Motionographer.com, created by Royale (huge props to them!), and was wondering how they might have gone about the organic effect that animates in the word Anniversary and then morphs into the creatures that rip the pages down. I have seen that effect being used a bunch lately, is it possible to do this in After Effects?

    Any suggestions would be great!

    Thanks,
    Travis

I don’t thing there’s a single click solution. Looks like traditional animation to me. You could do it in AE animating masks or shapes. The puppet tool may help in some cases.

I handle the PR for Royale. The press release I sent to Creative Cow earlier details the execution. Check the news section it should be posted soon. Basically it’s a mixture of 2D, 3D, stop motion and still photos. Also much of the stop motion animation is derived from the actual pages of Flaunt Magazine. Look forward to hearing more feedback.
