    Hello-

I’m trying to animate a screen capture in FCP X. I need to crop the screen and also zoom in. When I animate the zoom however, my crop gets thrown out of whack. I need to crop the whole clip, rather than the image itself; the crop needs to override the scaling effect. How do I do this without having to go through the hassle of a compound clip?

    Please help! Thank you!

You mean a nested clip. And they’re anything but a hassle. Just part of the idea of animation. You need to nest it with the pan/zoom, THEN apply the crop to the nested clip.
