  • FCP7 – distortion in viewer, clear in canvas?

    Hi:

    Weird problem I never quite encountered before.

    Just imported HD video freom my camera directly into FCP 7 (Apple ProRes 422, Linear PCM, 1920 x 1080).

    After loading all the clips into my browser, I double clicked on one of them to load it into my viewer. The picture was completely distorted, but the sound was perfect. I tried this with all the clips — same thing — distorted picture in the viewer.

    On a whim, I dragged one clip into my timeline, rendered it, and played it — perfect picture in the canvas! Same thing with all my clips.

    PHOTO BELOW.

    Is there some kind of rendering I have to do for these clips to show properly in my viewer?

    THANKS.

    Drew

    Go to the Browser and make sure that your footage is;
    – 1920 x 1080 SQUARED PIXELS
    or;
    – 1440 x 1080 HD pixels.

    Then fix your sequence setting, or are you trying to edit 4×3 Letterboxed?
