Timeline freezes
Why is it, that, when I place a motion graphic or a video filter, or when Im cutting fast, the timeline freezes,and FCP crashes?The processor speed on my mac is, 2.8-6gbChipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 5770.

What format of video are you working with? How much RAM do you have? What version of FCP? MacOS? Quicktime?

my guess is the codec your using on your clips… try converting your clips to apple pro res for your codec (and swapping out the old clips with reconnect media)

Hey Shane, Im working on DV-NTSC, and as far as ram 6gb – FCP 6.0.5 and I have Snow Leopard and I have Quick Time 10, and recently I’ve installed quick time 7, but I do I go about using QT 7?

Im only using DV_NTSC, but the graphics are moving backgrounds, like overlays or swipes, like digital juice.

Im only using DV-NTSC and have 6GB of ram-FCP 6.0.5 and Snow Leopard.

Time to do the usual then. Trash the FCP preferences and repair permissions using the Disk Utility.
