    Hi,

I am editing a commercial on FCP 7. I had a clip that was round-tripped to motion (a .motn file extension) that the client did not like. I laid a matte over the motion clip and added text and a JPG logo for the restaurant. Now when I try and render, I get the following ERROR MESSAGE: Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.

I changed from unlimited RT to safe RT. Still got the error message. I’ve had this error message before and I fixed it by changing under Audio/Video Settings/Sequence Presets/Video Processing selection TO RENDER IN 8-BIT YUV. Didn’t work this time.

Anyone have any suggestions? Is the .motn file screwing up the rendering? Feedback greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

The JPG….open it in Photoshop and change the color space from CMYK to RGB.

Like Shane said. And for god measure, make sure the .jpg is 72 dpi and then save it as a .png.
