  Best workflow for multiple editors on multiple platforms from edit to delivery.

  Hello everyone.
  I have been a long time reader here on creative cow, but this is my first post.

  I have been stuck with the job of overseeing the post-production for a low budget feature shot on the 5D mark2, and I am not sure what the best way of coordinating the workflow is.

  10 different editors all working on FCP have been chosen, due to a very tight deadline. Add 2 colorists, 1 compositor, 2 Foley artists, 2 dialog clean-up/ADR techs, 1 sound designer and 1 person responsible for the final audio mix.

  Since this is a differed payment project, everyone is working on their own systems at home, and the editors have all done their edits in FCP7.

  My question is how best to take the finished edits out to the colorists/compositor (working in AE) and the sound dept.(Pro Tools) and get it all put back together in a timely manner without any quality loss along the way.

  My initial thought was to have the editors render out image sequences(TIFF, TGA, DPX?) to give to the colorists/compositor and QT files with a separate WAV file for the sound dept., but now I am questioning the questioning the sanity of this.

  I am not a FCP user myself (I use the Adobe CS suite) and I would like to know what it will be like to get all of this back into the FCP timeline for the final tweaks and render.
  Any suggestions would be very helpful.

  Ask the colorists what they want. Ask the compositors what they want. They can tell you better than we can.

  My main concern at this point is, if I send out an image sequence, will we be able to bring that back into the FCP timeline without any issues, and what file type would create the least headache.
  The colorists and compositor have said that they would be happy with any on of the above formats.

  Sounds like you have your hands full. I’m not much help except to repeat the previous post. Always ask your colorist what they prefer and it’ll make life easier.
