Final Cut Pro 7 interaction with DVCPRO deck
I have a FIREWIRE PANASONIC DVCPRO AJ-D23OH and I’m running it directly in to my NEW MacBook Pro.
Final Cut Pro 7 is running.
The capture is not working.
Can someone please advise me?

Did you choose the DV/NTSC Easy Setup? So that FCP knows what deck to look for?

Yes, but still no image.

Is this DVCPRO? Or DVCPRO 50? Panasonic did both…and they are slightly different.
Is the tape Standard Def? or is it HDV?

The deck is Panasonic AJ-D23OH (i believe this is DVCPRO)
The tape is SD

Is the tape you are trying to capture, something shot with a Panasonic DVCPRO camera? I think that there were some minor differences between DVCPRO and DV25.

shot it with an SDX900, but it was NOT set to DVCPRO50

I cannot get the deck to read on my computer period.
I changed the FIREWIRE cable. I powered the computer off. I powered the deck off. I am directly from the deck to the computer (no daisy chain).

Wonder if the firewire port is fried. That has been known to happen. Try on another computer…try to another firewire port.
Are you using a FW400 to FW800 adapter? Those have been known to cause issues too.

I just have the one MacBook. I switched the 400 to 800 and went to 400 to 400, but had to daisy chain a harddrive to my Macbook. The ports on the deck could be out.
