Final Cut Pro 7 interaction with DVCPRO deck
Posted by Anthony Peltier on May 7, 2012 at 11:10 pmI have a FIREWIRE PANASONIC DVCPRO AJ-D23OH and I’m running it directly in to my NEW MacBook Pro.
Final Cut Pro 7 is running.
The capture is not working.
Can someone please advise me?
Thank you. I appreciate it.

May 7, 2012 at 11:29 pmDid you choose the DV/NTSC Easy Setup? So that FCP knows what deck to look for?

May 7, 2012 at 11:46 pmIs this DVCPRO? Or DVCPRO 50? Panasonic did both…and they are slightly different.
Is the tape Standard Def? or is it HDV?

May 7, 2012 at 11:57 pmIs the tape you are trying to capture, something shot with a Panasonic DVCPRO camera? I think that there were some minor differences between DVCPRO and DV25.

May 8, 2012 at 12:05 amI cannot get the deck to read on my computer period.
I changed the FIREWIRE cable. I powered the computer off. I powered the deck off. I am directly from the deck to the computer (no daisy chain).

May 8, 2012 at 12:12 amWonder if the firewire port is fried. That has been known to happen. Try on another computer…try to another firewire port.
Are you using a FW400 to FW800 adapter? Those have been known to cause issues too.

May 8, 2012 at 2:00 amI just have the one MacBook. I switched the 400 to 800 and went to 400 to 400, but had to daisy chain a harddrive to my Macbook. The ports on the deck could be out.
Thanks for your support.
