  • After “Send to Color,” Media Missing?!

    Hi Everyone,

I’ve seen this posted here before but I’ve tried pretty much what other people have done with no success.

Also, this may be a little bit different from those other threads:

I copied over Prores files, music, and an FCP file from another hard drive onto one of mine and began working on it on my own computer. Everything went as expected. I reconnected all the media in Final Cut and edited everything fine.

Finally I went to color it and did it like I’ve done a hundred times. “File: Send to Color.”

When Color opened, the media was missing (everything was red with a red ‘x’ through it).

I tried to relink the media manually, I tried reconnecting all of it at once, I tried creating a new project file in FCP and sending it to Color again…nothing is working for me.

Strangely, some of the clips showed up, but only the clips from the same original .mov file work. Everything else is still missing.

Can someone help me with this please?!

Does this have anything to do with the fact that I copied over the files from another hard drive onto my own before I worked on it?

Everything worked fine in FCP which makes me feel like it isn’t the issue with the media. Also, I tried sending a completely different project to color and it worked fine…

What formats are the source media files you can’t reconnect to?

What is the sequence setting you’re sending to Color?

The files are Apple Prores 422 23.9fps 1920x1080p

and the sequence is the preset: Apple Prores 422 1920x1080p 24fps

I double checked everything in regard to sequence settings/file format, and it’s been the same way I’ve been doing it for some time now.

Can you import the files to color that won’t send from FCP? if not, I suspect they are corrupt…

What was the original source? DSLR footage or?
