Sync issue with 5D even after pluraleyes
Trying to sync external audio to footage shot on a 5D at 23.98. Used easy set up configuration for FCP from pluraleyes but still having issues. I tried conforming media in cinema tools as well. So basically what I did was manually cut and adjust the audio down the timeline by 2 frames at a time to sync it in a manner that works. only problem is. after I exported the edited/adjusted audio so I could bring it in as one clip and then cut and relink to the video, it came back in out of sync again.. so I’m figuring I can work on it within FCP but then the final delivery file will have the audio out of sync.

I am not able to follow the steps that you have mentioned.
Have u selected the easy setup in FCP or pluraleyes?
From your post it looks like you are talking about plural eyes easy setup (I have no idea what that is , havent used plural eyes since long)
It is essential to choose proper easy setup in fcp before importing audio files from external source. Have you done that?Pradip Patil

yes. since the camera used was a 5D, I began researching the common issues involving audio sync with that camera and externally recorded audio. I downloaded an easy set up pluggin by pluraleyes that was supposed to fix the issue. But I haven’t been able to resolve it using that easy set up. So I’m willing to try anything at this point. I thought it might be a drop frame to non drop frame issue. but that doesn’t seem to resolve it either. I’m open to anything at this point… otherwise I’m forced to use camera audio which is quite noisy and ambient. -B

I have never used pluraleyes with any custom made easy setup.
why don’t you try it the basic way. Just select prores easy setup with frame rate of 23.98 and then quickly do a syncing trial with pluraleyes and fcp. And don’t forget to merge the files once the audio and video is synced.Pradip Patil

I actually tried to do it the normal way without success. That is why I pursued the plural eyes route.

My experience with 5D is that the camera audio is 1.5-2 frames ahead of pictures (at 25 fps). I’m guessing this is to do with the processing to H264 needed within the camera.
Later models may have audio delay to compensate for this, I’m not sure.
So PluralEyes gets you close – but you then have to slip compared to double sound (or even to on-board)
Sounds like you have inconsistent slippage though – which may relate to your proves conversion ? (23.98 / 24?)
