  FCE crashes on capture. At a loss

  All of a sudden, FCE freezes during the video capture. This particular video is about 13 minutes long.

  Here’s what I’m using:
  Canon Vixia HV40 (in HDV mode).

  Results:
  FCE appears to be importing, but as soon as I reach the end of the clip, I stop the video camera and FCE says “Acquisition complete. Processing remaining frames.” A second line says “Processing is 92% complete.” This window is frozen and won’t go away or complete processing. I have to hit ESC, which cancels the ENTIRE import. This last time, even pressing ESC stopped the capture, but froze the software. I had to go into the Activity Monitor to totally force the process to stop. 🙁

  I’m not sure what other information is relevant to help diagnose the problem, but I need help fast. I have at least 3 videos that I need to import within the next few days.

  Any suggestions? It just crashed on me again in the middle of an acquisition. 🙁
