  Whats the best way to motion track with smoke?

  Hi there,

  Basically ive got a video of a car and smoke is coming out of the back as the car is moving along. ive motion tracked the car fairly well and applied the keyframes to a null layer. however what do i need to do so that the smoke stays still. i basically want the smoke staying in one position so i can apply it to other objects and its not moving along with the car.

  so its like i need to use the tracker keyframes to reverse it moving along with the car so it becomes static. however if i do time reverse keyframes it deosnt work as i guess that wouldnt work.

  does anyone have any ideas?

  Well, if you’re using a particle emitter to make the smoke, you could move the emitter, using an expression to tie it to the tracked point.

  The ‘Stabilize’ feature of the motion tracker will attempt to keep the tracked feature at the same position in the frame throughout tracking.
