keyboard shortcut to duplicate a clip onto a new track above itself on timeline?
i heard there was a quick way to duplicate a clip and put it on the track directly above it so as to do some compositing stuff, searched the web, and can’t find anything on that. any help?

Select the clip>>hold down the option key>>drag the clip to another video track (or even the same track>>release the mouse key to drop. Bingo, a new instance of the same clip.

That was it! Thanks! And i find with only clicking on option, it inserts a clip (scooting the timeline), but if you add shift with option you can place it right on top without inserting/scooting. Thanks again.

And Option + Shift will duplicate it and place it exactly above (below) the original clip.
