    …and then played through a digital projection system (via a different computer from the one I’m editing on) have the exact same quality as the sequence being played directly out of my computer through the same digital projection system?

    If the other computer has the same performance, yes.

    Know that some codecs are proprietary and require FCP in order to see them. HDV, XDCAM for example. A self contained QT will work on your machine with FCP, but on a machine without FCP…all they will see is a white or black screen. I believe that DVCPRO HD has the same issue.
