  Question about GH2 and Workflow

  Hello, I am seeing a lot of different workflows with the hacked GH2 (panasonic), and am trying to find out why it’s so complicated.

  I simply select “log and transfer” (Final Cut 7) and import the files the same way I would a P2 card. They open fine in final cut as 1920×1080 prorez all on their own.

  However, I see all these postings about other complicated methods using VLC and other software (sometimes 3 programs before getting into FCP).

  So I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong. Perhaps I would get better quality with these more complex workflows? Or maybe it has something to do with going back to the original AVCHD for an online?

  Any advice would be much appreciated.

  But with ProRes I am not getting the same bit-rate. I am shooting with 100 Mb/s hacked GH-2, but when I log and transfer, it decreases the bit rate dramatically – with normal ProRes it is around 10 Mb/s and with ProRes High Quality it is around 20-22 Mb/s.

  What is the problem?

  Actually, yes. When you export a timeline, the bitrate go back to original high. The workflow on FCP is simple. Just log and transfer.

  No Mbs but MB/s.
  Prores is 1.5 heavier than your original media and prores HQ twice.
  1B = 8b
  1 MB = 8Mb

  Hey I’m having the same/similar issue here and wondered if anyone could help.

  I have 3 SD cards.
  Sandisk Class 4 SDHC 4GB
  Sandisk Extreme Class 10 SDHC 16GB 45MB/s
  Transcend Class 10 SDHC 32GB

  I recorded a 15s clip (of the same thing) onto each card using the Cinema 24p profile on my GH2.

  I logged and transferred each one into FCP 7 and exported separately from the timeline.

  In Quicktime they all have a data rate of ~ 115-119Mbit/s. Which is around 14MB/s for each if I’m not wrong.

  Isn’t the Cinema 24p mode meant to be ~24MB/s??
