    Hello all,

I am working on a makeup project shot in HD that we all think would look better if I downgraded the image to SD as you can see all the pours, blemishes, cracks in the lead models face. The amount of retouching is enormous.

The end result will be a quicktime movie for the web

I theorized that reducing the videos to SD would make the viewer see less than half the pixels, Trouble is, after downconverting, I’m not seeing much of a difference.

Videos are starting at 1080p at 23.98 PRORES, 16×9

My goal was to produce an SD mov at the proper 16×9 ratio.

I first tried to downconvert through Compressor and that wasn’t working…then I actually made a DVD, and MACRIPPED/MPEGStreamclipped that back into a mov and other than the brightness shifting a little, there was no difference.

Now I’m theorizing that one needs to view on a TV to see the difference.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks, Mike
