  • Serial Number will not load, FCP-7

Posted by Nate Stephens on December 4, 2011 at 9:18 pm

I am loading a brand new copy of FCP-7, got a volume type job and purchased three copies from the Apple Store. I was loading a copy on our (Office work-under powered)) Mac Pro 2.8 Quad core, 4 gb ram. I have done two complete installs and then FCP must go out to the network and grabs the first FCP serial code it can find, not giving me a chance to load the new serial code. Of course then when you try to run FCP it finds the other FCP copy running and we get a conflict.

Does anybody know where the serial number is stored and the process for changing the serial number to the right serial number?

    Thanks for your replies.

Delete the Final Cut Studio System ID and relaunch FCP.

    Steve,

Thanks for the reply. I found this answer from Jerry Hoofman in the Cow archives.

And no luck at all with just deleting the FCP Studio System ID. After two more total reloads I got brave and deleted the Pro Apps system ID from the same folder and oh my it worked as advertised and let me enter a new serial number. It is the Pro Apps System ID delete that did the trick. We should update the archives on this nasty Sunday afternoon time burner.

Thanks for being there with a reply.
