Adobe After Effects Classes
Posted by Edit Queen on November 15, 2007 at 7:21 pmI desperately need an After Effects class. I there anyone who would give me lessons? If so for how much for the basics?
I have many questions.

November 16, 2007 at 2:00 amYou can buy training DVD’s from Total Training who has the best package imo for learning the application if you’re a visual learner. Andrew Kramer at videocopilot.net gets fancy with effects training for more advanced stuff later on, and you really can’t beat the Chris and Trish Meyers books for more insight into the overall creative abilities of the program.
Another option is Lynda.com for cheap online subscription based training.
And of course always come here for deeper insight or advice on creating specific effects or which plugins are good for doing certain things.Above all else jump in with both feet and play with every setting, filter and effect and download the plugin trials and play with them too. The best way to learn is by doing and attempting to recreate things you’ve seen others do.

November 16, 2007 at 3:58 pmAnother FREE suggestion is Aharon Rabinowitz and the Creative COW After Effects Podcast. Aharon has about 75 or more free video tutorials in the series.
No, you do NOT have to have an iPod to watch them.
You can go over key features and concepts with tutorials that are every bit as good as the ones in series that sell for hundreds of dollars.
Aharon is amazing. Check him out.
Click the “podcasts” link in the orange bar up above. Go to the After Effects podcast.
Best regards,

November 16, 2007 at 4:30 pmAnother recommendation for Andrew Kramer and Video Copilot. He has a really good series of tutorials for just the basics of After Effects as well as the more advanced stuff. Can’t recommend his site highly enough.
https://www.videocopilot.net/basic/index.html
Also Aharon Rabinowitz’s (and indeed all the other) tutorials for the Cow are an indispensible resource.

November 16, 2007 at 9:37 pmDon’t forget that Andrew Kramer and Aharon have DVD’s available.
Their tutorials teach you the practical uses of AE and have a lot of good tips for workflow as well…more of a hands on approach.https://store.creativecow.net/p/52/serious_effects__compositing
