I need help (ASAP!) on how to make a background image of a TIE-DYE. Any shape will do, just to get across TIE-DYE and so it has some nice movement or color flow.

    THANKS!

If I recall, tie-dyed images looked like rough, thick rings.

To get the ring, I might make a long thick, scraggly line, then apply Polar coordinates (rect>polar) to make the ring. As for the line, I could scribble something up/down, slowly moving across, or maybe make a long comp, apply Fractal noise, with maybe directional blur(vertical).

To get motion, I might animate the fractal noise, and/or animate the line up or down inside its comp, or animate the scale of the ring. Transfer modes should look cool – vivid light?

For colour, I’d use Colrama and experiment. Make copies of the rings at various sizes and positions.

    Anybody else?

    thanks for the quick response!

I’ll give it a go and see what happens.

    thanks again.

Oh, yeah, but I’d say mandelbrot or julia sets from Fractals, not fractal noise. then use tiling or kaleidescope filters.

This will NOT emulate real tie dye (I’ve done lots of this stuff with various fabrics and techniques), it will always look fake. You need to go buy some tie dyed t-shirts and scan the fabrics. You might be able to find stock photos of tie dyed fabrics.
