How would we go about having someone appear into an existing chair and then fade away. meanwhile his clone is constantly sitting in a chair next to him?? Is this a green screen or masking job??

If you lock down (do not move or touch) your tripod while shooting, you can achieve this effect.

Shoot with someone sitting in the chair then shoot without someone in the chair.

    Great thanks Steve

But when I fade in the person will the background colors change slightly due to the two layers?

Try it and learn from your experience.

Your color change might happen if you layered the full scene on top of itself, but you don’t have to do that if you wipe or mask it. Use soft wipe masking between the takes, and don’t forget to say a novena to St. Patty Duke. :-0
