  • Extend reverb beyond end of clip?

I’ve never tried to do this before and I think I might have to go into Soundtrack to do it because I know FCP pretty well and I can’t think of a way to do it.

I have a clip that ends with a bunch of people standing in a lobby yelling something in unison and the clip ends abruptly about a second after that. I want to add some reverb, which in and of itself is simple, but I want it to extend and die down for about 5 or so seconds after the clip ends. I’ve tried clipping the last half second and pasting it a bunch of times but there’s no way to make that sound good.

Is there a way in Soundtrack to apply a reverb effect and have the echo extend beyond the end of the clip?

Tried nesting the repeating audio clips, then fade out the nest over a long period?

Export your audio clip with 5 seconds of either room tone or just slug at the end. Bring this new clip back in to FCP and add the reverb to the new clip.

It’s nice to see that a good idea is timeless. Long live the Cow.
