When connecting Scratch disk to another computer, the Rendering vanishes
Hello
On the MacBook Pro I works with an external drive LaCie as Scratch disk.
After the Render All of my Project, I connect my Scratch disk LaCie to my Mac Pro.
On the Mac Pro, I open LaCie >>> open my Project and I notice that my Project need to be Rendered again : the most upper bar of the TimeLine is red.
My request is ;
When I connect my Scratch disk to another computer, how can I do to maintain the same Render (I mean for not Rendering again)

Check your system settings in FCP to ensure that your render files are also going to the same drive as your video capture. In this case, your Lacie.

Make darn sure that you are indeed rendering to that drive. Check the CAPTURE SCRATCH settings on the original machine. Sometimes it’ll switch to your internal drive (if you launch FCP without the external connected, for example).

Which version of FCP are you using Nguyen? FCP version 7 is really the first version in which render files could be moved seamlessly between computers. With FCP 5 or 6, render files seldom came across as expected when copied to another drive, unless Media Manager was used in the process.

Thank you very much for your advise.
The render files are in MacBooPro, but I have copied the Render document in the LaCie before disconnect it from Mac Book Pro to bring it to my Mac Pro.

OK…they are on the internal drive. Meaning the project is linking to them on the internal. You need to RE-LINK to them on the external…preferrably before you copy the project file and hand off the drive. Copy them to the external, remove them from the internal (they shouldn’t be there in the first place), reconnect…save, then hand off.

Thank you for all informations.
I launched FCP7 WITH the external drive LaCie connected. But I notice that the Render document is in my Internal drive. Noticing that, I copied the Render document to the external drive LaCie before bringing it to my Mac Pro.
After me logically, ti must work, but i did’nt.
