    Change the default. User Preferences>Editing>Still duration

    You can change that inside your FCP preferences. Take a look at all the options.

    OK. Thanks Guys. I changed the preference after I imported the files (stills) and it was coming into the timeline at 10 seconds. I guess you need to change the preference first then import the file.

    B/4 import works best.

    But,

    You can double click a still in the sequence and in the window – upper left, duration/timecode – enter new duration.
