can’t drag audio file in FCP timeline
I am attempting to click and drag an AIFF music file within my FCP3 timeline and it won’t let me. I click on the file within the time line and +(or-) frames and it will move but I can’t drag. I have trashed my prefs and still nothing. Never had this issue before. I have set up a ton of markers on the clip (to go with the beat…maybe that is the issue). Thanks

Any in/out points set in your timeline? Do you have the audio patched to the audio tracks you want?

There were no in/out points on that clip and it’s a stand alone (not linked to any other clip). I just reimported and remarked the clip and it is working fine, strange issue though that I have never experienced. Thanks for the reply.

I have a similar issue, but it’s not just the audio clips.
I have an indexed media file, one video and 2 audio tracks, that will not move by dragging. When I try to drag I get a small yellow window that has xx:xx;xx in it and nothing happens.
If I go to the “+” key and enter a value, the clip will move.
If I drag up or down to a different track, the clip is deleted.
If I use the blade and make a cut, the clips will move using drag.I tried a new sequence, and a new project with the media file copied to it and get the same results.
The tracks are not locked.
Any ideas?Using Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 on MacPro running OS X 10.6.8

It has happened again, and the clips with the issue are crashing FCP!

I had this same problem today. I ended up exporting the audio as a wave using quicktime conversion and then re-importing it into the sequence. This worked and the clip is now moving without issues.
