    Hi Gurus,

We have a program in HDCAM 1080, 23.98 PsF to be converted to MXF OP-1A, XDCAM-HD 422i, 1080i50 fro digital delivery to a broadcaster.

Since we dont have an HDCAM player, the footage will be captured at another facility with HDCAM, FCP and HD-SDI I/O. I am planning to get the capture file to my FCP for convertion to MXF by using Sony XDCAM transfer.

Please advise how to convert the 23.98 Psf source to 1080i, 50i. In which format we need to capture. What are the best practices.

    Appreciate your help

    Asok

Best is to get the facility to do a real time hardware conversion from 23.98 to 25. Devices like Alchemist or Teranex are considered the best for this. if they then supply the 25 frame version as a 50i ProRes 422 file you can then do the conversion to mxf. They may be able to do the whole thing for you.

If you have to do a software conversion then Compressor with frame controls set to best will do the job but very very slowly so allow lots of days of render time depending on the length of the program. There are other techniques that involve speeding up the frame rate but that will change real time and pitch of audio which may not be desirable.
