Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy import iMovie footage into fcp without rendering

    iMovie records as DV Stream (.dv). FCP Records as DV/NTSC…slightly different. But, the iMovie captures will not work directly in FCP 7 without rendering. Sorry. They either need to find FCP and capture with that. Or, you need to use Compressor to convert their footage to DV/NTSC.

    You can try rewrapping the “.dv’ files as QT.
    Open the files in MPGStreamclip, and “SAVE AS..QT”.
    Audio will always need rendering due to the 32KHZ iMovie audio.

    FCPX can read iMovie projects.

    You might want to think about using that instead, if you are brave.
