Hey you all, i was trying to understand and then emulate an effect i saw on a music videoclip.
You can see this clip at the following url: https://it.youtube.com/watch?v=p2lhiesbSo4

Obviusly the fx i’m trying to reach is the “timewarp stretch fx” on the body of the singer.
I tried several times with “Echo” Fx but the result i got is different because of the way Echo works. So i’d like to not have previous frames to repeat in time but to stretch the actual frame.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thx a lot and sorry for my bad english.

    Cya!

Why not just do it with a mirror? Seems less messy.

Thx Amit but i don’t think i could archieve that FX just using a mirror Fx….seems to be more complex and accurate…

I truly have no idea. But maybe you could use vector paint to roto the subject (or green screen) and then use bezier warp?

I’m totally baffled, but I hope that at least helps get something started.

you’re going to need to separate the subject from the background then apply echo, pre-compose that and apply time remapping.

Why not use Andrew Kramers Morph demon face tracking technique, then just blur the face to get the effect?

I don’t think you need to remove the background from the footage because the camera is locked off and the other thing that moves is the singer – therefore, when it trails, the only thing moving is the singer and his echo.

I think Mesh Warp was the effect used. I’ll try it later.
