    I’m working with animation effects, trying to get a hologram effect with a picture. random blocks that continually change, can’t seem to get it to look right any suggestions ?

    you mean, you can’t get the distortion right? or the whole look?

    You could use wiggle to do it along with some bad TV effect and some opacity.

    I’m getting a distortion but it looks more collagie then semi transparent computer produced image

    heey, what you could do is precompose your image and all your effects, distortions and then play with opacity or transfer mode options / blending modes of that precomposed layer so that you effect all your stuff, image, distortion etc.

    if you search on google for “hologram” “after effects” you find alot of stuff.

    I can tell you that you’ll want to use an additive blend mode on your pre-comp. Probably ‘Screen’ if you’re not working in a linearized color profile, I like ‘Add’ but it sometimes blows things out.

    That said, AE has a couple of animation presets that can get you started on a look. Try searching the animation presets for TV.
