Need to upload 2.36 gb file..
Hi, I have a 2.36 gigabyte Quicktime movie that’s eleven minutes long. I have access to FCP and MPEG Streamclip. How should I downgrade it to retain the best quality for Youtube? Youtube makes you have one gigabyte or less.
Also, is it possible to import a quicktime file into FCP and export it as quicktime, and not have any loss of quality?

Most online video sites like YouTube have published tech specs of frame size and data rates, codecs etc. So study what you need and then start with the Youtube preset in Compressor and modify to match.
Bring your self contained quicktime directly into Compressor rather than going back into FCP.

Or open in QuickTime Player, and Export for Web…..

youtube HD is 2.5Mb bit rate.
But it will ALWAYS re-encode whatever you toss up to it. So there is little point in uploading anything at higher than around double that bitrate (on the grounds that that will provide it adequate quality for the re-encode).
I stick with around 5Mb, and multipass. 1080p if you have it.
So for an 11 minute movie, you should be aiming for around 400MBytes upload size.
