Hi, I’m curious if anybody out there knows if there is a way to change the font of multiple text layers in various pre-comps at one time? I’m not talking about linking “Source Text” because each text layer says something different.

    Thank You

you could try asking in the ae expressions forum, but i believe that text properties cannot be accessed by java, so expression or scripts would not help here.

however, you can have several comp timelines open and visible at once (as many as you can fit in your monitor). as you open each comp, drag the tab in the timeline window bellow the current tab.

this should then make each timeline’s layers viewable (and selectable). just select the text layers from the various comps (holding ‘shift’), then choose the font settings from the character palette.

its still a little tedious, but not too bad.

Thanks for the suggestions , I’ll keep my eye out in the expression forums and hope that someday AE will include that feature.

i agree, doing a 45 min corporate video and having a client say “can we get a different font” hurts a lot when you have more than 300 text layers in comps, pre-comps and standing alone. I wish there was a way to ‘rig’ fonts to parent their font to a master text layer so it would just be as simple as changing that layer,
