I did some animations in Apple Motion for a feature doc and set the resolution to 1920×1080 at the request of the editor. Today when I handed it off I found out their final sequence for the film was in 1280×720.

So my question is obviously, does using higher res clips in a low res sequence actually add any quality? I can’t see that it would since it is basically being down-resed once it’s exported at the timeline settings.

But of course, I’m deferring to the wider post community. It would be nice to know if yes or no because it was a great deal more taxing on my machine to work in these extended 1920 projects than it would have been to do it in 1280. And it irked me a little to realize it may not have even been necessary.

    Thanks for the help!
