So I run a small post house… working with FCP.

I have three workstations and up until now have kept projects organized on hot-swappable firewire drives.

But now I need a solution that is shared over the network… preferably a wireless network, but possibly not.

Keeping in mind price is an issue, what lower cost solutions are you guys using?

I have thought of running a mac tower I have as a shared computer with all the drives on, then having all other computers networked to it… is that going to be fast enough over an airport extreme network?

    Thanks

    Joseph,

I will point you to two forums here on the cow where your question is best answered:

First, check out “SAN- Storage Area Networks”, and then try “Arrays & Raid SetUP”.

Be warned that Bob Zelin prowls those forums and you just might get a taste of his “shotgun”.

Quick answer to your question: No, you can’t do that! It’s gonna cost you some money to achieve
a workable solution. The good news is that the cost is going down.

    Good luck.

    Mark
