Formatted iMac now FCP is running slow….
I had to format my Mac a few days ago and wiped everything clean smoothly. Well I loaded FCP back onto my newly formatted Mac along with the Adobe Creative Suite CS5 and now for some reason my Final Cut Pro is not running good anymore.
I updated FCP to 6.0.6 as well as every other available update for my Mac that came up in the software update window. I am currently running on this:
MAC OS X 10.5.8
3.06 GHz Processor
4 GB MemoryI set my scratch disk to my 2TB external hard drive so everything would be loaded onto that so I wouldn’t have any problems with speed just as I had it set before I formatted.
Now I am working with a project I had started before the format and everything is running slow, not just the rendering. When I click a clip from the bin and try to play it from one point it gives me almost a 10 second pause before it actually plays, and when I try to skip ahead it takes longer and even pops up the little spinning wheel from time to time. It never did this before even when I had stuff loaded onto my Mac, now that it is pretty much clean besides the Adobe Creative Suite it seems to be lagging or something. Just to render a 2 second clip it takes a couple minutes which it never even came close to before.
I’m working with video that is not HD and the format is all .MOV but again that shouldn’t be the problem because EVERYTHING worked perfect before I formatted my Mac, great speed and everything. I am kind of at a loss, I keep changing things here and there hoping it will work but to no avail, any thoughts guys? I tried to list all of the info/specs that you may need to know.
Thanks!
