  EX1/5D footage copy for exchange

  Hi friends,
  i need to give my ex1 and 5dmarkII footage to a friend for editing and grading. I should put them on an ext HD, still don’t know how he’s going to work them (pc or mac). Which is the best way to do this exchange? sholud I copy and paste the entire cards in some folder on ext HD? should I ingest first the footage (but then how? there will be a transcoding both on PC or Mac..). i know that nothing will work if i ever loose some info contained in the cards folders..any sdvice?

  Always give the raw camera files. DO NOT IMPORT FOR THEM! Then the media will be tied to the NLE you used to import, and it will be difficult to convert for the NLE they are using.

  Format the hard drive as Fat32 if you are giving to someone on a PC.
