    Hi-

OK, so this one has me stumped. I have been editing a show that uses DVCProHD tapes and I have been delivering a self-contained 720p/59.94 QT for a final mix. What is happening is that I log a clip with the Panasonic AJ-HD1800 deck. When I capture it, the timecode is different…doesn’t match at all. I have traced the issue to the “59.94 Panasonic VTR” device protocol. If the frame rate is 59.94, I get the wrong timecode. If I change it to 29.97, it captures fine. Now I know that gives me a TC Rate of 30, as opposed to 60.

First off- Will that affect me in a 59.94 timeline if all I am delivering is a finished QT movie?
Secondly, I know I can control-click the TC Rate and change it to 60. Is this advisable?

Here is the list of things I have done prior to this to try and fix it-
    -trashed fcp prefs
-reinstalled AJA LHi card with new drivers
    -tried different codecs
-reset the Panasonic deck to factory settings

This does NOT happen with SD tapes. They capture fine, so I assume the issue is the 59.94 setting. Is there something I am missing here?

The deck was provided to us and was set at 720p. IT also shows that setting on the home screen, Are you thinking it is doing some sort of conversion?…How would you confirm it is actually outputting 59.94.?
