I am working with .wav files from a Zoom recorder on 7.0.3 Snow Leopard.

Final cut brings the files in as a stereo pair, and when I split them to mono tracks I am unable to pan them. Panning is greyed out in the mixer, and in the viewer I can change the pan, but it has no effect. Likewise, modify>audio>pan has no effect. The only way I have found to shift the pan is to move from an odd track to an even one. Unfortunately this only hard-pans the opposite direction where what I really want is to pan center.

    Anyone know a way out?

[Gabriel Regalbuto] “when I split them to mono tracks I am unable to pan them.”

Can you explain how you “split to mono”. If you unlink stereo clips you should be able to pan them any way you want.
