How can one get a g5 or g4 to run FCP 7?
I was wondering how much would I pay to replace the processor on a g5 or g4 with an Intel Core i5 or i7 so it can run FCP 7. I wanna see if I can save money. Thanks.

If you mean to install a new Intel processor to an G5, no way.

Take everything out of the box. Go buy a intel MacPro. Take everything out of that and put it in the G5 box.

Okay, well how about a 2006 15′ Macbook Pro “Intel Duo Core”, i read the specs, and FCP 7’s minimum requirements seem to match, but I just want to make sure if it’ll work before I buy the thing.
SO will a 2006 2.0gh macbook pro run FCP 7?

Memory isnt the same.
There is 1 generation g5 wit pcie.
All you can get out is the s-ata drives in most cases. -
Yes, but ‘overall’ not run it terribly well.
ProRes will be just ‘okay’; better have 4 gigs of ram if you want to work in HD.
Also, it’s a heavy rumor that FCS 4 (or whatever the hell they’re going to call it) is probably coming out in the next 30-90 days.
In this field, it’s generally a ‘safe bet’ to buy current hardware (or one generation back ) if it’s been recently updated.

And the question is – what to do with a reduntant G4? All my old PCs get recycled with new motherboards etc and become new PCs, but my G4 is just a pretty box in the corner…..
