  Compression FCP Unstable

  We have completed our first Pilot (44:14 total time) and (we think) because of the complexity of layers/filters and depth of sound it has become somewhat unstable and we’ve been having problems getting it to compress to an MPEG 4 so that we can post it to a website. FCP becomes unstable and quits. Any thoughts on a work around? We’ve tried repairing the disk via first aid and trashing preferences.

  Also can anyone share the proper way to compress to an MPEG 4…we think we’re doing it correctly but just want to be sure. We’ve tried via Compressor and MPEG stream clip. If you could share using both we’d be much obliged.

  Two things that can help. Perform a mixdown on the audio and then a self contained quicktime using current settings. Take that into Compressor and make the H264 or mp4 file.

  Search this forum for advice on best settings for Compressor using this method. It is such a common question that it is in the FAQ section (near the search, view all, add a new post etc).
